Make your day really special. Get ready in style for your wedding overlooking our beautiful vineyard. Matakana Estate Lodge is the ideal place for the bride to be and her attendants to prepare for the ceremony. There is ample space for hairdressers, make-up artists and photographers.
The wedding ceremony and reception are all held on the grounds surrounding the lodge. We work in conjunction with a marquee company that offers multiple choices dependent on the number of guests coming to share your special day with you.
Do you have a special occasion coming up you wish to celebrate with others? Perhaps a special birthday, wedding anniversary, graduation celebration, intimate wedding, family reunion or cocktail party or just a wish to have you nearest and dearest around to share in an evening of togetherness.
Matakana Estate is a magnificent place for our guests to host a special gathering while staying with us. We specialise in hosting smaller parties (max 12 pp) indoors at the Lodge, or up to 35 people outdoors on the Estate grounds. It may be on the Lodge lawns, in the Enchanted Forest, up at the new Cellar door (opening mid 2020) or anywhere else on the Estate which appeals.
We are connected with a number of supplier partners who can provide small marquees, tents, outdoor lighting, dance floors, sound systems, outdoor heating and all other party supplies. We also have a collection of our own furniture and catering supplies which we have on site for hire. Let us know what your requirements are and our host will organise it for you. (Please note however, that depending on the number of guests and the type of gathering, a venue charge/and or organisation fee may be charged in addition to your accommodation fee.)
Our wine selection is varied, and it is expected that lodge guests will order Matakana Estate wines for their event. Because of this we offer our Lodge guests a 30% discount. In our experience function guests always enjoy dirnking wine grown and/ or made on site. Especially when the spectacular lights in the lodge have been made from the same vines! Our wine list can be sent to you pre-order your wine. We can also pre-order local beer or kombucha should you also wish to have these at your event.
Matakana Estate Lodge has prepared a guide for those guests wishing to host small events during their stay. These will provide a checklist to ensure that your event runs smoothly and is enjoyed by all , and that our Lodge is also respected and well cared for.

Personal parties and events are allowed but MUST be authorized by Matakana Estate lodge and some additional costs will apply.
Unauthorized parties or events will ensure a $3,500 fee, be shut down and you may be requested to leave the property immediately.
Matakana Estate Cellar Door
Matakana Estate will be opening it’s new Cellar Door mid 2020.
Please note that you CAN STILL visit us at our Temporary Cellar Door up at the winery to enjoy a wine-tasting, buy a glass of wine to enjoy with your ‘build your own platter’, or purchase wine to go 7 days a week from 11 am – 5 pm.
The Enchanted Forest
Situated next to the old Tasting Room is The Enchanted Forest.
As an ideal spot for an intimate wedding, The Enchanted Forest provides just the right amount of shade to keep the guests cool whilst still providing views of the vines.
At night, a canopy of lights will give your guests the impression they are enjoying an evening under the stars. A touch of romance to end a very special day.
